This weekend CGA Sailing competed in two events; The NEISA Open Team Race Championship for the Fowle Trophy hosted by Brown University, and the Emily Wick Women's Fleet Race hosted by Connecticut College.
PROVIDENCE, RI – USCGA Sailing competed at the NEISA Open Team Race Championship for the Fowle Trophy hosted by Brown University. The team finished in a strong 4th place which is the team's highest finish at a Team Race Conference Championship in over 25 years. After the qualifying round the team was tied for 3rd and after tie-breaks the team finished 4th overall. The team was represented by Dan Unangst '24, Jack Farrell '23, Colman Schofield '25, Lauren O'Neill '24, Matt Kickhafer '23, Charlie Mason '23, Charlie Pohl '26, and Nic Reeser '25.
NEW LONDON, Conn – The team competed at the Emily Wick Women's Fleet Race hosted by Connecticut College. The Bears finished in a strong 3rd place overall out of 15 teams from around the country. CGA sailors claimed the A Division win by 24 points over the rest of the competitive field. The team was represented by Emma Snead '23, Leo Krajewski '23, Emily Bornarth '24, and Mia Quinlan '24 in A Division. In B Division, CGA was represented by Celia Houston '25, Charlotte McCarthy '25, and Julia Conneely '26.
Next weekend the team will be competing in three regattas; the NEISA Women's Team Race Championship hosted by Harvard, the Owen, Mosbacher, Knapp Trophy hosted by Kings Point, and the Thompson Trophy at home.
The full field of selected teams for the 2023 Women's and Open Team Race National Championships will be announced on Tuesday, April 18.
