Over the weekend Coast Guard Sailing competed in two events throughout the Northeast. The Bears competed at the NEISA Women's Fleet Race Championship for the Reed Trophy hosted by Brown, and at the 85th Boston Dinghy Club Challenge Cup hosted by MIT.
Providence, RI – CGA Sailing sent their top women's team to the NEISA Women's Fleet Race Championship for the Reed trophy hosted by Brown University. This event is the culminating women's championship for the regular season. The team was represented by Emily Bornarth '24, Leo Krajewski '23, Mia Quinlan '24 in A Division, and Emma Snead '23, and Laura Slovensky '25 in B Division. Julia Conneely '26 and Celia Houston '25 were alternates at the event. The team sailed extremely well in challenging conditions and finished in a strong 5th place overall. Bornarth, Krajewski and Quinlan rounded out a great season by placing 3rd in their division.
Boston, MA – At the 85th Boston Dinghy Club Challenge Cup hosted by MIT, the team was represented by Matt Kickhafer '23 and Daniel Neville '25 in A Division, Jack Derry '25 and Aiana Cayao '26 in B Division, and Luke Zylinski '26 and Charlotte McCarthy '25 in C Division. The regatta had a total of 19 very competitive teams present. The team finished in 13th overall.
The team has one more weekend left of regular season competition before starting their nationals training in May. The open squad will be heading to Connecticut College for the NEISA Open Fleet Race Championship for the Coast Guard Alumni Bowl this Saturday and Sunday.
