Box Score NEW LONDON, Conn. -- Today, CGA Baseball continued New England Women and Men's Conference (NEWMAC) play and beat the Clark Cougars, 6-3.
In the very first inning, CGA came out swinging and was able to get up 2-0 on Clark.
In the top of the second, the Cougars were able to tie it up.
However, the Bears never let Clark take the lead. In the bottom of the fifth inning, Richard Barkley hit a three-run bomb to give CGA a 5-2 lead.
Clark could only add one more to the scoreboard the rest of the game which would not be enough to top CGA. Bears would take game one of the three-game series, 6-3.
John Thigpen was oustanding on the mound for CGA and had eight strikeouts in eight innings pitched.
Barkley was three for four at the plate with a homer and three RBIs. John Carrol hit a double and had one RBI. Luke Percfield was one for one on the day with an RBI as well.
Bears Baseball continues their series against the Cougars on Clark's home field tomorrow at 11 AM and 2 PM.
