This weekend USCGA Sailing competed in four events; 3rd J/70 Invitational hosted by USCGA, The Vietor Trophy hosted by USCGA, The Dellenbaugh Women's Team Race hosted by Brown University, and Lynne Marchiando Team Race hosted by MIT.
NEW LONDON, Conn. -- At the 3rd J/70 Invitational schools from across the country competed in 14 races with USCGA staging a come from behind victory! The Bears finished the event with three 1st place finishes to surpass URI for the regatta win. USCGA's other boat finished 5th with five top 3 finishes throughout the event. The 1st Place boat was crewed by Parker O'Sullivan 3/c, Charlotte Waring 4/c, Alexander Rogers 3/c, and Nathan Olmsted 1/c. The 5th Place boat was crewed by Sean Sullivan 3/c, Claire Holman 4/c, Samuel Humphreys 3/c, and Kurt Biedermann 1/c.
PROVIDENCE, RI –- USCGA Sailing competed in the Dellenbaugh Women's Team Race hosted by Brown University. CGA Sailing had a strong 6th Place finish with an overall record of 6 wins and 5 losses. CGA Sailing was in a three-way tie for 5th with Stanford and Harvard. Stanford, Harvard, and CGA sailed a tiebreaking series with Stanford finishing in 5th, CGA in 6th and Harvard in 7th. Sailing for CGA was Emily Bornarth 2/c, Emma Snead 1/c, Julia Conneely 4/c, Mia Quinlan 2/c, Laura Slovensky 3/c, Leonora Krajewski 1/c, and Celia Houston 3/c.
NEW LONDON, Conn. -– Also on the Thames River, The Vietor Trophy which saw 16 schools from across the nation compete in two divisions of dinghy fleet racing. The USCGA Sailing team finished 8th overall losing a tiebreaker with Northeastern. Challenging wind conditions both days led to 12 races being completed in both divisions. Sailing for USCGA in A-Division was Luke Zylinski 4/c and Allison Nystrom 4/c and in B-Division Bradley Whiteway 4/c, Charlotte McCarthy 3/c, Sarah Krajewski 4/c, and William Spada 4/c.
BOSTON, Mass. -- In Boston, the Bears raced the 40th Grey Lynne Marchiando Team Race hosted by MIT. The Bears team finished in 7th place with 4 wins and 10 losses. Sailing for CGA was Colman Schofield 3/c, Daniel Unangst 2/c, Matthew Kickhafer 1/c, Nicholas Reeser 3/c, Lauren O'Neill 2/c, Charles Mason 1/c, Jack Farrell 1/c, and Charles Pohl 4/c
