Box Score BUZZARDS BAY, Mass. - Baseball was on the road taking on Mass Maritime Thursday evening, getting the 2-1 win over the Buccaneers.
The Bears got out to a hot start with a lead-off double by Blake Carroll. John Carroll followed with a single up the middle that scored B. Carroll and gave CGA the early 1-0 lead.
On defense, Coast Guard kept Maritime off the board until the bottom of the sixth inning when the Buccaneers tied it up at one.
With runners on in the top of the ninth, Greg Boland singled to left field, bringing in Wyatt Duthu and retaking CGA's lead. The Bears did not let the Buccaneers add one in the bottom of the ninth, ultimately taking the win.
Bears pitchers only allowed five hits, while recording 11 strikeouts. John Thigpen had seven and Raymond Priddy had four, while also recording the win. J. Carroll and Duthu each had two hits on the day and B. Carroll recorded a stolen base.
The Bears will have their first home game of the season on March 18th at 1 PM, facing Norwich.
