Box Score BOSTON, Mass. - Men's Basketball faced Emerson Wednesday night, nearly taking the Lions, but ultimately falling, 73-67.
Coast Guard put up the first points of the game off a layup by Declan Rooney, giving them the early momentum.
The Bears had the lead six times in the first half alone, but went into halftime trailing, 38-33.
The second half started the same as the first 20 minutes, with Coast Guard coming out with the first points. This time coming off of a Bryce VanderWiere layup.
Despite scoring first in the second half, the Bears struggled to connect for a chunk of the remainder of the game. At one point, there was a scoring drought for nearly six minutes. They managed to claw themselves out of a 13-point deficit, but the effort wasn't enough as time expired with Emerson on top.
Mitch Shettles led in scoring for USCGA with 19, followed by Declan Rooney with 15. Shettles also recorded nine rebounds.
The Bears will play on their home court on Saturday, February 11th, against WPI at 1 PM.
