Box Score NEW LONDON, Conn. - Tonight, Coast Guard Men's Basketball hosted Roger Williams in a non-conference home match up, downing the Hawks 84-76.
The Bears were able to get on the board first and dominated the first half. In fact, they held the lead for 18:20 of the first half. At halftime, CGA led 44-28.
The Bears out shot the Hawks and out rebounded them. They shot 75% from the free throw line to Roger William's 62.5%. From beyond the arc, the Bears shot 31.3% while the Hawks only made 10% of their three pointers. They also out-rebounded Roger Williams 22-16.
The second half of the game was more of the Bears dominating. At 15:40 left to play, Bears had a 21-point lead, their largest of the night. Then at 6:58 left in the second, Roger Williams was forced to take a timeout as they found themselves down 67-54.Â
The Hawks started to chip away at the Bears' lead with a little under two minutes to play. CGA led by just six with 1:47 left to play in the second half.Â
Mitch Shettles led the Bears for the second game in a row, finishing with 15 points, five rebounds, and three assists.
Luke Farrell led the Bears with nine rebounds. Farrell and
Elijah Parent had the second most points for CGA, with 13 apiece.Â
The Bears are now 2-0 on the season and will look to improve their record to 3-0 this Friday. On Friday, November 17, the Bears will play The City College of New York at 7:30 at the Cadet/Mariner Classic hosted by Mitchell College
