Volleyball Falls in Three to Springfield

Box Score SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - Volleyball traveled to Springfield last night, taking on conference opponent Springfield, falling in three sets.

Despite the loss, the Bears put up a good fight with each set being relatively close.

Set one started with the Bears scoring first. They wouldn't be able to hold off the Pride, however, as Springfield pulled away and took set one, 25-19.

The second set was even closer as CGA only dropped it by four. It once again started with the Bears scoring first, this time getting two points before the Pride were able to get one. Springfield did go on a run to pull away, but Coast Guard tied it up three times late in the set to keep it close. It wouldn't be enough as ultimately CGA lost set two, 25-21.

Set three ended the same as the first, with the Bears falling 25-19. Despite a late push where the Bears scored five points in a row, they weren't able to stop the Pride, and dropped the match in three sets.

Shannon Shaw led the Bears in kills with 11. Maeve Duffin had 23 assists and Kaela France had 12 digs.

Coast Guard will host Emerson on October 14th at 1 PM.
