SPRINGFIELD, Mass. -- Coast Guard Men's Basketball falls to New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) opponent Springfield, 85-73, after leading them the entire first half. With the loss the Coast Guard Bears fall to (2-3) and the Springfield Pride improve to (2-3) in NEWMAC play. 

Sophomore Declan Rooney led his team in points, ending the night with 16. Abe Countryman finished right behind Rooney with 15 on the night. Elijah Parent chipped in 14 and Jarrod Jackson had 12. Luke Farrell grabbed six boards and Rooney ended with five. Jackson and Parents also picked up three assists apeice against Springfield.

Despite leading by as much as 10 in the first three minutes of the game and being up by six at the half, the Bears could not hang onto the lead in the second. The Springfield Pride would simply outshoot the Coast Guard Bears. The Pride shot at 42.9% compared to the Bears shooting only 25% from the three point line. 

The Bears did, however, outrebound the Pride 38-37, but could not hang onto the lead in the second half of the game.

Coast Guard Men's Basketball will look to redeem themselves at home this Saturday, January 21st, as they take on the Babson College Beavers at 1 PM.
