SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Coast Guard closed out the regular season with its eighth straight win beating Springfield 9-0 to finish a perfect 6-0 in the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC).
Coast Guard which is 12-2 overall will host the NEWMAC tournament semifinals on Saturday and championship on Sunday at noon. The Bears will play at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday against the winner of the 4/5 match while MIT will take on Babson in the other semifinal at 2:00.
The Bears did not drop a set on Saturday.
Myles Decoste and Sean Dreher were 8-2 winners at #1 doubles, Charles Norman and Lucas Arora also won 8-2 at #2 doubles while Banks Evans and Paul Choi were 8-1 winners at #3 doubles.
In singles action, Decoste won 6-1, 6-0 at #1, Norman won 6-0, 6-0 at #2, Evans was a 6-2, 6-0 winner at #3, Dreher won 6-0, 6-4 at #4 singles, Arora won 6-0, 6-0 at #5 and Choi also won 6-0, 6-0 at #6.
