Bears Win Streak Snapped in Myrtle Beach Finale

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – Coast Guard had its four game win streak snapped with a 7-4 loss to Bridgewater State in its final game at the Cal Ripken Experience.

The Bears finish the southern swing 4-1 and are now 4-2 on the season.

Bridgewater State scored three in the second and four more in the fifth for a 7-0 lead.

Coast Guard would get two in the sixth with RBI singles by John Carroll and Greg Boland and the Bears would add two more in the eighth when Boland blasted his first career homer, a two run shot to left cutting the deficit to 7-4.

Boland was 3 for 4 with a double, homer and three RBI's while Justin Stasiak added a pair of hits for Coast Guard.

Charles Red (0-1) took the loss allowing a pair of earned runs in two innings. Sean Rojas allowed just one earned run over the final four innings did not walk a batter and fanned five.

The Bears are back in action on Sunday when they host Dean in a doubleheader at noon.
