Box Score NEW LONDON, Conn. – Cody Fidler pitched a complete game allowing seven hits and one earned run leading Coast Guard to a 3-2 win over Massachusetts Maritime in non-conference game.
Fidler improved to 2-0 on the season as he did not walk a batter and fanned two in a game which took just one hour and 58 minutes.
Coast Guard improves to 5-3 on the season while the Bucs drop to 2-5.
Parker Madden's RBI double in the second gave the Bears a 1-0 lead and Coast Guard would add and unearned run later for a 2-0 lead.
The Bucs got one back in the fifth on an RBI single by Alex Schlapak.
Coast Guard added an insurance run in the eighth on an RBI single by Greg Boland for a 3-1 lead.
Mass. Maritime scored in the ninth again on an RBI single by Schlapak, but was left at first as the tying run.
Justin Brown (0-1) started and took the loss for the Bucs. He worked six innings and allowed three hits and two runs, one earned while walking one and fanning three.
AJ Pietrafesa and Schlapak had two hits each to lead Mass. Maritime.
Boland had two of Coast Guard's six hit in the win including a double while Blake Carroll also doubled for the Bears.
Coast Guard is back in action on Sunday at Rhode Island College in a doubleheader at 11:00.
