Box Score NEW LONDON, Conn. – Alex Cho had a game-high 24 points leading MIT to a 91-71 win over Coast Guard in a New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) game on Senior Day.
MIT improves to 12-8 overall and 5-5 in the NEWMAC while the Bears drop to 5-14 overall and 2-8 in conference play.
Cho was 10 of 16 from the floor in the win. Dan Pilsbury (18), Tim Kostolansky (15 off the bench), and Ian Hinkley (10) also scored in double figures in the win for MIT. Pilsbury had a team-high nine rebounds while Cho led the way with a game-high nine assists.
Tyler Perez had a double-double for the Coast Guard with 10 points and adding a game-high 10 rebounds. Garrett Drummond scored a team-high 18 points and added a team-high three assists and while Jarrod Jackson and Declan Rooney each added 13 points for the Bears.
MIT shot 48.6 percent (35-72) from the floor and connected on seven of 22 from 3-point range while the Bears were 24 of 65 from the floor (36.9 percent) and made eight of 22 from downtown.
The Bears led 13-10 before MIT used a 12-0 run to take a 22-13 lead with 10:50 left in the half. The Engineers led 43-40 at the half.
Coast Guard would tie the game 55-55 on a layup by Drummond with 13:12 left before MIT scored 10 straight to start a 17-2 run as the Engineers opened up a 72-57 lead with 8:29 left to put the game away
The Bears are back in action on Wednesday as they host Emerson in a NEWMAC game at 5:30.
