NEW LONDON, Conn. -- The United States Coast Guard Academy Men's Basketball team defeated rival Merchant Marine 82-64 in Alumni gym on Saturday afternoon.

The Bears raced out to a 10-0 lead and never looked back as they lead from start to finish in the victory. Coast Guard was paced by Trevor Parks (Fr, Oldsmar, FL) who scored a career high 17 points which included five made three pointers. Joining Parks in double figures were Mitch Shettles (Fr, New Albany, MS) with 12 points and Jarrod Jackson (Sr, Carrolton, GA) who contributed 10 points. Cameron Brown (So, Ellicott City, MD) led the team with 11 rebounds. The Bears, who lead by as many as 40 points, shot 57.1% from the floor and 58.3% from the three-point line in building a 49-23 lead by halftime. Merchant Marine was led by Drew Zalescik who scored 18 points and Isaac Vencel who contributed 13 points.

The win over Merchant Marine was the Bear's 4th straight win over the Mariners dating back to 2018.

The Bears are back in action on Wednesday, December 7th at 7 pm when they host Mitchell College.
