Box Score FAIRFIELD, Conn. – All 12 active members of Fairfield University Men's Basketball contributed at least two points and one rebounds as the Stags rolled past Coast Guard, 86-45, on Sunday afternoon at the Leo D. Mahoney Arena. Supreme Cook paced the Stags with a career-high 21 points and a season-best 13 rebounds.
Fairfield improves to 5-7 overall with the win and 3-1 at the midway point of its eight-game homestand at Mahoney Arena.
Cook's 21 points came on 7-for-9 shooting from the floor and a 7-for-9 day from the free throw line. His double-double is his third of campaign, tying Iona's Nelly Junior Joseph for the MAAC lead.
All 12 Stags to take the court played between 11 and 25 minutes. Fairfield shot 32-for-67 (.478) from the field, 9-for-30 (.300) from three-point range and 13-for-16 (.813) from the free throw line. Fairfield racked up a season-best 19 assists on its 32 made field goals.
Cook's 13 rebounds led the Stags to a 52-38 advantage on the glass. The Stags converted their 12 offensive boards into 17 second-chance points.
Coast Guard was led by 12 points for Declan Rooney and nine from Trevor Parks.
"We appreciate Coast Guard and Coach Jaskiewicz coming down here and being flexible with us to play at a date that worked for our schedule," stated Head Coach Jay Young. "We all have a ton of respect for how hard those players work and also for their commitment as students at one of our service academies."
The Bears' final non-conference games of the year are set for Thursday, Dec. 29th with a 5pm start time versus SUNY Maritime at the Western Connecticut tournament. On Friday December 30th, Coast Guard will meet Western Connecticut at 1pm.
