Box Score New London, Conn. – Coast Guard trailed Lehman for most of the game in the Cadet Mariner Classic. Coming as close as two points in the second half, Coast Guard could not overcome a strong Lehman college offense. Lehman's Will Feldman notched 25 points to lead the basketball team to a 65-57 victory against hosts U.S. Coast Guard Academy in a non-conference encounter. Coast Guard drop to 1-4 mark, and the Lightning go to a 2-2 overall record.
Lehman led since tipoff and had its largest advantage by 15 points while the defense held Coast Guard Bears to 36 percent shooting from the field, including 21 percent from three-point range.
Senior Jarrod Jackson was the top scorer for Coast Guard with 16 points. Sophomore Declan Rooney put 12 points on the board for the Bears. First year Luke Farrell collected 10 rebounds for the Bears in the loss.
Cadet/Mariner All-Classic Team: The All-Classic team was selected by the coaches at the conclusion of Day Two action. Joe Sheehan (St. Joe's) Will Feldman (Lehman) Rob Zirlis (Mitchell) and Jarrod Jackson were selected along with Jalen Brunson (Mitchell) who was named the Most Outstanding Player.
Coast Guard returns to action after the Thanksgiving break on Wednesday November 30th at Connecticut College at 7 pm ET.
