Box Score BOSTON, Mass. – Zach Waterhouse had a double-double and was one of three Lions with a team-high 15 points leading Emerson to a 75-59 win over Coast Guard in a New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) game.
Emerson improves to 9-4 overall and 2-2 in the NEWMAC while the Bears drop to 3-9 overall and 0-3 in conference play.
Declan Rooney led Coast Guard with 13 points while Tyler Perez (12), Jarrod Jackson (11) and Madison Maloney (11) were also in double figures for the Bears. Perez led the Bears with nine rebounds.
Coast Guard shot 30.2 percent (19 of 63) and were two of 20 from behind the arc. Emerson was 27 of 61 (44.3 percent) and connected on eight of 26 from 3-point range. The Lions outrebounded the Bears 45-26.
The Bears led 8-6 with 15:37 left in the first half before the Lions scored 10 straight to take a 16-8 lead with 11:17 left and Emerson led 38-27 at the half.
Emerson led 41-34 with 15:40 left before the Lions scored nine straight pushing the lead to 50-34 with 12:44 left in the game and never looked back.
The Bears are back in action on Wednesday when they host Springfield at 7:30.
