SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Coast Guard opened up the spring season and New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) play with a 9-0 win at Springfield.
The Bears, who dropped a pair of matches to Army West Point in the fall are now 1-2 on the season while it was the opener for the Pride.
Banks Evans was a 6-3, 6-1 winner at #1 singles, Charles Norman registered a 6-0, 6-0 win at #2, Sean Dreher won 6-1, 6-0 at #3 singles, James Vuille-Kowing earned a 6-0, 6-3 win at #4 singles, Kyle Fager was a 6-3, 6-0 winner at #5 singles while Logan De Los Santos won by forfeit at #6 singles.
In doubles action, Fager and Norman won 8-3 at #1, Evans and Dreher won 8-2 at #2 doubles while the Bears #3 doubles teams of De Los Santos and Isaac Magee won by forfeit.
The Bears are back in action on Saturday when they host Clark in the home opener at 1:00.
