Box Score WELLESLEY, Mass. -- Wellesley used a 19-3 run to end the game knocking off Coast Guard 59-35 in a New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) game.
Wellesley improves to 10-3 overall and 2-0 in the NEWMAC while the Bears drop their third straight straight are are now 11-6 overall and 0-2 in the conference. Coast Guard beat Wellesley 59-53 earlier this year in the championship game of the Ed Hockenbury Classic at Norwich University.
The Bears trailed 31-30 entering the fourth quarter before the Blue outscored the Bears 28-5 in the final quarter.
Annabella Farabaugh led Coast Guard (11-6, 0-2) with eight points while Kyra Hartman had a team-high eight rebounds.
The Bears shot a season-low 22.2 percent (12-54) from the field and 13.6 percent (3-22) from behind the arc.
The game was tied 11-11 after one and the Blue scored the final five points of the first half for a 23-18 lead at the break.
The Blue led 31-20 with 5:53 left in the third before the Bears scored the last 10 points of the quater to make it 31-30 heading to the fourth.
Wellesley would score the first nine points of the quarter taking a 40-30 lead with 8:27 left to take control.
The Bears are back in action Saturday when they host Emerson in a NEWMAC game at 1:00.
