POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. -- Tom Hackett and Jack Phillips each won their singles matches and teamed up to win at doubles, but it wasn't enough as the Bears lost to Vassar 5-4.

The Bears won two of the three doubles matches with Hackett and Phillips posting an 8-3 win at #1 and Arthur Wicke and Lucas Arora winning 8-4 at #3 doubles.

In singles action, Hackett was a 6-2, 7-6 winner at #1 singles and Phillips won 4-6, 6-4, 6-3 at #6 singles for the Bears.

It all came down to the final match of the day all tied at 4-4 and Wicke dropped a heartbreaking 6-7, 7-5, 6-7 match at #3 singles.

Coast Guard's Chris Lansing, who won the first set 6-3 at #4 singles, then lost 6-2, 6-2 earlier in singles action.

The Bears (1-1) are back in action on Sept. 28th at the ITA Regionals.
