NEW LONDON, Conn. –  Senior Joey Santigate was 4 for 4 with a double and he drove in two runs while junior Brady Furdon pitched six solid inning to get the win leading Wheaton to 7-2 win over Coast Guard in a New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) game.

Sophomore Jared Sharkey's RBI single in the first gave Wheaton a 1-0 lead and he would later score on an error to make the score 2-0.

Coast Guard got one back in the first on an RBI double by senior Kyle Jackson scoring sophomore Jake Behne who singled.

Furdon and Coast Guard freshman Brett Sullivan matched zeros for the next four innings before junior Matt Cook and senior Josh LaJoie had RBI singles to make the score 4-1.

Junior Alex Murdoch had a sacrifice fly in the sixth to score sophomore Will Stephens, who led off with a double, to pull the Bears to within 4-2.

The Lyons added two more runs in the seventh on an RBI ground by Goodwin-Boyd and an RBI double by Santigate to make it 6-2.

Santigate's RBI single in the ninth closed the scoring.

Furdon (4-1) scattered eight hits and allowed two earned runs while striking out four to get the win.

Sullivan (3-2) allowed eight hits and two earned runs while walking one and fanning four and was the tough luck loser. Sophomore Walter Harris allowed just four hits and three unearned runs over the final three innings for Coast Guard.

LaJoie and Sharkey each had two hits for Wheaton.

Junior Zach Serna, freshman Alex Cordes, Stephens and Jackson all had two hits each for Coast Guard.

Wheaton improves to a 20-8 overall and 10-3 in the NEWMAC while the Bears drop to 12-20 overall and 3-11 in conference play.

Coast Guard is back in action on Friday when the Bears host Clark at 3:30.
