NEW LONDON, Conn. –  Senior Lamar Berk had a double-double as he finished with game-highs of 19 points and 15 rebounds leading Clark to an 82-64 win over Coast Guard in a New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) game.

Sophomore Brendan Kittredge and junior John Pisacreta (7 rebounds) each finished with 17 points in the win for Clark while senior Joe Atkinson had a game-high seven assists to go with his eight points.

Clark improves to 13-7 overall and 5-4 in the NEWMAC while the Bears drop to 6-13 overall and 2-7 in conference play.

Freshman Patrick Witkowski led the Bears with 13 points while classmate Max Lampe added 11 points for Coast Guard. Sophomore Luke Daniels led the way with six rebounds.

The Bears cut a 10-point halftime deficit to 41-37on a layup by junior Micah Baldez with 16:23 left. Clark would push the lead back to double figures taking a 53-42 lead on a basket by Atkinson with 10:52 remaining.

Coast Guard would get as close as seven at 66-59 on a pair of free throws by freshman Justin Kane with 4:37 left, but Clark would score nine of the next 10 points to put the game away.

The Cougars shot 49.3 percent (33-67) from the floor in the win while making 7 of 26 from behind the arc. Coast Guard was 22 of 59 from the field (37.3 percent) and connected on 6 of 17 from behind the arc.

Clark jumped out to a 6-0 lead in the first two minutes of play. The Cougars led 13-4 before Coast Guard used a 7-2 spurt cutting the lead to 15-11 following a 3-pointer by senior Adrian Chuquillangui with 9:54 left in the opening half.

Daniels made four straight free throws in a span of 25 seconds as the Bears, who trailed 22-13 with 6:35 left, cut the deficit to 23-20 with 5:07 left.

The Cougars used a 7-2 spurt over the final 2:09 of the first half to lead 36-26 at halftime. Clark shot 45.5 percent in the first half (15-33) making 2 of 11 from 3-point range. Coast Guard shot 33.3 percent in the opening half (9-27) hitting 2 of 7 from behind the arc.

Clark held a 46-32 edge in rebounding including 14 offensive rebounds.

The Bears are back in action on Saturday at MIT in a NEWMAC game at 1:00.
