WORCESTER, Mass. – John Piscacreta had a game-high 24 points and Clark used a late 9-0 run to beat Coast Guard 95-85 in a New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) game.

Clark improves to 10-5 overall and 2-2 in conference play while the Bears drop to 5-9 overall and 1-3 in the NEWMAC.

Freshman Max Lampe had 16 of his career-high tying 21 points in the first half while junior Micah Baldez had 17 of his 20 points off the bench in the second half for Coast Guard.

Freshman Patrick Witkowski was also in double figures as he finished with 14 points and a team-high six rebounds for the Bears.

Coast Guard shot 45.8 percent from 3-point range (11 of 24) as Lampe was 5 for 11. The Bears shot 46 percent from the floor (29-63).

Clark scored eight straight in the first half to open up an 18-8 lead following a 3-pointer by John Pisacreta with 11:33 left, he also started the run with a trifecta.

Lampe and Baldez hit consecutive treys as the Bears pulled to within 35-31 with 3:09 left in the first half, but Clark responded with seven straight to take its largest lead of the half 42-31 with 2:01 left.

The Cougars led 45-37 at the half as both teams shot it well in the opening half. Clark shot 63 percent (17 of 27) in the first half while making 6 of 10 from behind the arc. The Bears shot 46.4 percent in the opening half (13 of 28) while making 7 of 12 from 3-point range including six of their last seven.

Lampe led the Bears with 16 points in the first half as he was 4 of 7 from behind the arc and scored 9 of the Bears final 11 points in the half.

The Bears trailed 54-48 with 14:52 left in the game when Clark scored eight straight pushing the lead to 62-48 with 13:09 left.

Coast Guard would score eight straight making the score 64-58 with 11:05 left capped on a 3-pointer by Baldez.

The Bears would cut the lead to 75-72 following a layup by senior Devon Zych with 4:47 left before Pisacreta knocked down a 3-pointer to start a 9-0 run as the Cougars took an 84-72 lead with 2:43 left to put the game away.

The Bears are back in action on Wednesday night at Springfield in a NEWMAC game at 7:00.
