Bears Clinch First Round Bye; Beat Clark 8-1

WORCESTER, Mass. Coast Guard clinched a first round by in the upcoming New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) tournament with a convincing 8-1 win over Clark in the final match of the regular season.

The Bears won all three doubles matches and five singles matches to finish the regular season 10-6 overall and 4-2 in conference play.

Coast Guard will be third-seed and take on second-seeded Babson in the semifinals on Saturday May 7
th.

The Bears won all three doubles matches by identical 8-4 socres. Mark Guentert and Weston Fortna won at #1, Benson Errington and Thomas Hackett won at #2 while John Hu and Adrian Chau got the win at #3 doubles.

Guentert was a 6-1, 6-1 winner at #1 singles, Hackett posted a 6-2, 6-3 at #2 singles, Hu won 6-4, 7-5 at #3, Fortna was a 6-1, 6-0 winner at #4 and Mike Melampy won 6-4, 6-4 at #5 for the Bears.
