SOUTH HADLEY, Mass. - The Bears won in dominating fashion for their third win in a row topping Mount Holyoke by a final score of 68-24 in New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) action.

With the win Coast Guard improves to 11-8 on the season and 8-3 in NEWMAC play. The Lyons fall to 0-19 overall and 0-11 in conference games.

Senior Meghan Fornaro led all scorers with 14 points, six rebounds, two assists and one steal. Senior Torie Sutherland recorded her sixth double double of the season with 10 points and 11 rebounds. Freshman Kristina Bynum had a career high seven points and five rebounds while junior Amanda Roy scored a season high nine points.

The Lyons were led by senior Genelle Green who had a team high seven points while freshman Leah Hodges scored four points and grabbed seven rebounds. 

It was all the Bears from the get go as they outscored Mount Holyoke 21-0 in the first quarter. Sophomore Gill Gerton had all nine of her points in the first quarter grabbing five rebounds as well.

Coast Guard kept the pressure up in the second quarter with a 22-9 in the period. Fornaro tacked on nine points in the quarter while freshman Shelby Threlkeld had four points.

The Bears held a 43-9 lead at half and cruised through the second half finishing up the 68-24 victory.

Coast Guard shot 25-74 (33.8%) overall and 29.2% (7-24) from beyond the arc. The Bears dominated the paint out rebounding the Lyons 63-33 and outscoring them in the paint 30-12.

Mount Holyoke was 19.2% (10-52) from the floor and 1-7 (14.3%) from three.

Coast Guard is back in action this Saturday, as they host Babson in a key NEWMAC game. Opening tip is 1:00 pm.
