Box Score NEW LONDON, Conn. – Tyler Rowe led all scorers with 23 points and Connecticut College used a 13-0 second half run to beat host Coast Guard 91-80 in a non-conference game between the two New London schools.
Zuri Pavlin had a double-double with 15 points and 11 rebounds while Daniel Janel (17), David Labossiere (14) and Lee Messier (11) all scored in double figures for the Camels, who improved to 5-1 on the season.
Micah Baldez led Coast Guard with 22 points and six assists while Justin Kane finished with 18 points and seven rebounds. Patrick Witkowski added 15 points and a team-high eight rebounds for the Bears.
Coast Guard led by as many as seven at 37-30 in the first half following a 3-pointer by Kane with 5:37 left, but the Camels would use an 8-0 run taking the lead 38-37 on a dunk by Pavlin with 3:24 left as Conn. outscored the Bears 17-4 to end the half leading 47-41 at the break.
The Bears closed the gap to 47-46 by scoring the first five points of the second half before the Camels scored 13 straight to take a 60-46 lead with 13:52 left.
Coast Guard would cut the deficit to seven at 66-59 with 9:15 left on a bucket by Nolan Benson.
The Camels would later use an 8-1 spurt pushing the lead to 81-66 with 5:33 left.
Conn. College shot 46.6 percent (34-73) in the win while making 7 of 15 from behind the arc while the Bears were 28 of 72 (38.9 percent) hitting 11 of 29 from 3-point range.
Coast Guard is back in action on Wednesday night at archrival Merchant Marine at 6:00.
