NEW LONDON, Conn. – Freshman John Hu recorded the Bears only win at #5 singles in an 8-1 loss to 14-time defending New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) regular season and conference champion MIT.
Playing outside for the first time this season, Hu recorded a 6-2, 7-6 win for the Bears.
Coast Guard drops to 6-4 overall and 2-1 in the conference while MIT improves to 10-3 overall and 3-1 in conference play. MIT dropped its first NEWMAC match since 1996 earlier this Spring.
The Bears #1 doubles team of Weston Fortna and Mark Guentert almost recorded a win before falling 8-6.
Robert Renfrow (#1 singles), lost his second set in a tiebreaker.
Coast Guard is back in action tomorrow against NYU at the National Tennis Center in Flushing, N.Y. at 1 p.m.
