Box Score

KINGSTON, R.I. – Mark Behne, Zach Serna and Kyle Jackson had back-to-back-to-back triples in a three-run fifth as Coast Guard posted a 9-6 come-from-behind win over Albertus Magnus in a non-conference game at the University of Rhode Island.

Coast Guard is off to its best start in school history with a record of 8-2. The 2005 and 2011 teams both started the season 7-3.

Albertus Magnus scored four runs in the third as seniors Nick Sedia, Anthony Pellegrino and Ted Gravel each had RBI singles in the inning for the Falcons.

Coast Guard responded with three runs in the home half without a hit as the Bears took advantage of five walks, a hit batter with all three runs scoring on wild pitches.

The three consecutive RBI triples gave the Bears a 6-4 lead.

Sophomore Tim Duncan's RBI single scored Matt Hanks from first base to push the lead to 7-4.

The Falcons (4-7) got two in the seventh on a two-run single by Sedia to make the score 7-6.

Duncan blasted a towering two-run homer to right, his NEWMAC leading third homer of the season, in the eighth to give the Bears insurance runs.

Sophomore Justin Rebholz (3-0) worked two hitless innings of relief while walking one and striking out two to pick up his NEWMAC best third win of the season. Sophomore Eric Vrissis worked two innings allowing two hits and a pair of unearned runs while freshman Cody Bain allowed a bunt single and struck out a batter in the ninth to register his fourth save, tied for best in the conference.

Bain has yet to allow a run in six appearances working 8 1/3 total innings.

Sophomore Jon Criscio (0-1) worked three innings of relief allowing three earned runs and took the loss.

Duncan had two hits to lead the Bears while senior Matt Hanks scored three runs in the win.
