Bears Blanked at Wesleyan

MIDDLETOWN, Conn. – Four Wesleyan pitchers combined on a three-hit shutout as the Cardinals beat Coast Guard 3-0 in a non-conference game between the two Connecticut teams.

Wesleyan scored single runs in the first, third and fourth to improve to 21-6 on the season while Coast Guard drops to 13-19 overall.

Sophomore Mark Behne had an infield single in the first, freshman Kyle Jackson had an infield single in the second while junior Blake Thompson had a single to right in the third. Coast Guard was held hitless to over the final six innings.

Sophomore Sean Barry (3-4) started and went the first three innings for the Bears allowing a pair of runs and took the loss. Sophomore Dylan Wright allowed a run in one inning of work. Sophomore Kyle Wood was outstanding throwing four scoreless innings allowing just two hits and striking out a batter to keep the Bears in the game. The Cardinals had just two hits over the final five innings.

Coast Guard is back in action on Wednesday when they play across town at Mitchell at 3:30 p.m.
