CAMBRIDGE, Mass. —
On a rainy night in New England, dour cadet-athletes from the United States Coast Guard Academy women's track & field team took on MIT's Last Chance Qualifier on Thursday. The meet serves as a final shot for NCAA athletes at all levels to improve their marks in a bid to qualify for Nationals.
Leading the way was mid-distance specialist
Kate Stebbins (Chapin, S.C.) in the 800 meters. She placed 6th with a time of 2:14.25, moving her up to #2 all-time on the program leaderboard. Also placing 6th in her respective race was
Claire Semerod (Centennial, Colo.), who ran 4:39.51 in the 1500 meters.
Kaylee Wright (Plainwell, Mich.) leapt 5.19 meters (17' 0.5") in the long jump for 3rd place. In high jump,
Allie Wildsmith(Bainbridge Island, Wash.) was also 3rd at 1.61 meters (5' 3.25"). She was in a four-way tie for the spot, while the top two spots were claimed by Division I athletes.
