Coast Guard men's lacrosse faced off against Springfield College on Saturday afternoon at Cadet Memorial Field. The Bears' struggles continued as they would lose their 4th straight game with a final score of 15-3 in favor of the Pride.
Springfield got on the scoreboard first from a goal by Brady Soldo 1:18 seconds into the contest. The Bears answered back just over 3 minutes later with a goal from Liam Miller (Radnor, Pa.). The Pride's offense started to click as they went on to score 3 more goals in the first quarter to take a 4-1 lead at the end of the first 15 minutes.
The second quarter continued to be more of the same, except the Bears were held scoreless compared to another 4 goals from Springfield, including 1 man-up goal.
Coast Guard found themselves in a big hole to start the second half as they were down 8-1. The Pride came out strong to start the second half as they scored just 13 seconds into the third quarter. The third quarter mirrored the first quarter as Springfield outscored Coast guard 4-1.
With 15 minutes remaining in the game, Springfield kept their foot on the gas as they scored early again to start the quarter. This time in 31 seconds after the first whistle. The Pride scored another 2 goals in the final quarter. Junior attackman Noah Heller (Baltimore, Md.) scored the final goal of the day with 9 minutes left to play.
The Bears will look to bounce back next Saturday, April 25th, when they host Wheaton College for Coast Guard senior day. The final game of the regular season is scheduled to start at 1pm EST.
