WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. –
In the second weekend of the Spring season for Coast Guard track, the Bears women put up a strong performance at the Monmouth Opener.
Senior captain
Tara Jessen(Bend, OR) was runner-up in the 400 hurdles after setting a school record performance of 1:03.45 in her spring season debut.
The women's 4x100 Relay of
Josalyn Rush(Toms River, NJ),
Starr Hepburn(Stafford, VA),
Bianca McIntosh(Woodbridge, VA), and
Alaina Stonebraker(Sandy, UT) posted a 49.43 in their spring season debut. Their time of 49.43 is the second fastest time in school history.
Hepburn also ran a 12.71 in the 100 meter dash landing herself on CGA's All-Time List at #4 while teammate
Josalyn Rush posted a 12.87 (#6 CGA).
Alaina Stonebraker was 4th in the 200 meter dash running 25.37 while Hepburn posted a 26.32 (#6 CGA) and Rush finished in 26.80 (#9 CGA).
In the 400 meter dash, Coast Guard placed 4 runners in the top 8 spots with freshman
Bianca McIntosh(Woodbridge, VA) finishing 4th with a 59.92 (#8 CGA). Teammates
Millie Wymbs(Salisbury, NC),
Ella Besant(Morehead, KY), and
Thuy Nguyen(Camden, GA) were 5th, 6th, and 7th running 1:00.12, 1:00.17, and 1:00.25 respectively.
Annabel Molner(Bremen, Germany) returned to the track to race the 5K after recovering over the indoor season from an injury. Molner surprised the field finishing 8th place running 18:08.35, only seconds off her personal best time in that event.
Mollie Brinker(Wilmington, NC) was an 8th place finisher in the Pole Vault after clearing 3.21m (10'6.5"). Finally, placing 9th in the Triple Jump was
Kaylee Wright(Plainwell, MI) at 10.53m (34' 6.5").
Competing at the same time today at the Yellow Jacket Open hosted by American International College was sophomore thrower
Tyler Dickson(Severna Park, MD). At AIC, Dickson took 7th in the javelin with a throw of 19.93m and 13th in the shot put at 9.37m.
Coast Guard will next hit the track at home with the CGA Invite next Saturday April 4th.
