Farrell, Stotts Close Regular Seasons with NEWMAC Weekly Honors

MARLBOROUGH, Mass. —

United States Coast Guard Academy basketball seniors Luke Farrell (Ortley Beach, N.J.) and Dorothy Stotts (Edina, Minn.) closed out their 2025-26 regular seasons in big ways to earn the final New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Offensive Athlete of the Week honors for their respective sports.

Farrell was nothing short of dominant during his final week in a Bears uniform, averaging 26.0 points per game across a 1-1 week for the men's basketball team. The post practitioner had 24 points last Wednesday to lead all scorers in Coast Guard's 88-97 loss to crosstown rivals Mitchell College before dropping 28 to lead his team to a thrilling OT win at Massachusetts Institute of Technology on Saturday. Farrell also put up career-best numbers in the passing lane and beyond the arc, dishing out eight assists and stretching the floor with five three-point makes.

Stotts' scoring machine status was well on display last week through averaging 27.5 points across a pair of must-win games for the women's basketball team. In her final game at Alumni Gymnasium last Wednesday versus Wheaton College, the Minnesotan dropped 31 points for her sixth 30-point game this season, and she did it on an efficient 13-for-26 rate from the field. The win over the Lyons set the Bears up to need just one more victory to claim the seventh seed in the NEWMAC playoffs, and Stotts delivered again on Saturday at Mount Holyoke College by leading all scorers with 24 points and dishing out four assists to pace Coast Guard's comeback effoort against the Lyons.

Farrell and the men's basketball team saw their season end on Saturday after not qualifying for the NEWMAC Tournament, but Stotts and the women's basketball team will see first round action this Wednesday, February 25th, at Babson College.
