SPRINGFIELD, Mass. —
The United States Coast Guard Academy women's track & field team saw multiple strong performances from freshman cadet-athletes during the Springfield College Triangle Invite on Saturday.
Amanda Delevan (Boiling Springs, Pa.) was the top finisher for the Bears with her 800 Meters win at 2:22.32, while classmate
Gabrielle Shord (Laurel, Md.) was fourth in that event running 2:26.65.
Kevyn Fish (Pittsburgh, Pa.) posted her collegiate best time in the 3000 Meters, running 10:30.37 to place second.
In the first event of the day,
Meredith Isley (Valparaiso, Ind.) was the runner-up in the 5000 Meters with a time of 18:50.12, while upperclassmen
Laura Molner (Bremen, Germany) and
Marin Baker (Corvalis, Oreg.) placed third and fourth with respective times of 19:46.29 and 20:36.90. In the Mile,
Ryann Langdale (Mission Viejo, Calif.) took sixth running 5:47.03, while
Ella Besant (Morehead, Ky.) was the runner-up in the 600 Meters running 1:39.86.
In field events,
Hailey Corritore (Erie, Pa.) was Coast Guard's top triple jumper with a runner-up mark of 10.60 meters (34' 9.5").
Mollie Brinker (Wilmington, N.C.) placed fifth in the pole vault, clearing a bar at 3.35 meters (10' 11.75"). In the throws,
Tyler Dickson (Severna Park, Md.) placed seventh in shot put throwing 10.56 meters (34' 7.75"), while
Mercedes Bowman (Cincinnati, Ohio) set a new personal record in weight throw with a 12.69 meter (41' 7.75") throw for eighth.
Bears women's track & field looks ahead now to the New England Division III Championships, set to run from Saturday, February 27th through Sunday the 28th.
