Coast Guard split up for the weekend with athletes competing at the BU David Hemery Invite and Tufts Cupid Challenge.
Three school records were set today as the Bears competed at the Boston University David Hemery Invitational. The day's top performance came from the defending national champion; senior
Allie Wildsmith(Bainbridge Island, WA)Â taking the podium after winning the high jump with the NCAA 3rd best indoor jump of all time clearing 1.81m (5' 11.25").
Last night at the Cupid Challenge, junior
Jasmine Mendez(Cromwell, CT) set a new PR with a throw of 11.71.
Another top performance came from senior
Claire Semerod(Centenniel, CO) rewriting the Coast Guard mile record after blazing the track in 4:53.73. 2025 graduate
Paige Phillips set the previous record of 4:57.09 just last year. Semerod jumps onto the NCAA D3 National list among the top 15 performances with her race.
Alaina Stonebraker(Sandy, UT) was Coast Guard's third record setting performance of the day in the women's 400 meters. Stonebraker was 10th in the 400m Open Race crossing the finish line in 56.86 improving on her previous best of 57.08. Also throwing down their fastest 400 meter races were senior
Tara Jessen(Bend, OR) (59.08, CGA #7), sophomore
Millie Wymbs(Salisbury, NC) (59.22, CGA #8), and
Bianca Mcintosh(Woodbridge, VA) (59.54, CGA #9).
Stonebraker also ran the 200 meter dash running 25.18. Also improving on their 200 meter performances were freshmen
Starr Hepburn(Stafford, VA) and
Josalyn Rush(Toms River, NJ) both running 26.49 (CGA #6).
Coast Guard's 4x400 Relay of Besant, Wymbs, Jessen, and Stonebraker posted their top time of the season and also making it CGA's #2 fastest relay of all time running 3:51.95.
At the Tufts University Cupid Challenge,
Kaylee Wright(Plainwell, MI) was the top finisher for the day as she placed 4th in the long jump with a new indoor personal best of 5.34m (17' 6.25").
Also performing well was freshman
Meredith Isley(Valparaiso, IN) was 9th in the 3000 meters running her top collegiate mark of 10:40.01 to place 9th in a stacked field.
Next weekend the Bears will compete in the annual Triangle Classic at Springfield College.
