Bratland earns 100th CGA win at Manganaro Duals

Collegeville, Penn. --

Going into the day, Coast Guard Wrestling Head Coach Kevin Bratland needed three dual wins to reach 100 in his tenure at CGA. Bratland's Bears did that and then some with a clean 4-0 sweep in their duals at the Manganaro Duals hosted by Ursinus College. Coach Bratland with the wins today is now 101-38 in his time at Coast Guard and 171-85-1 overall.

Coast Guard won each of the four duals in comfortable fashion, Albright College(32-12), Alvernia University(29-12), Shippensburg(41-3), and Ursinus(49-6). The Bears had five men go 3-0 on the day: 125 Nikko Beato(San Diego, CA), 149 Nathan Fitt(Branchville, NJ), 165 Landon Kearns(East Brunswick, NJ), 197 Kevin Pandorf(Elmer, NJ), and 285 Carl DiGiorgio(Doylestown, PA). Beato, Kearns, and DiGiorgio each earned one forfeit victory and won their other two bouts by technical fall or major decision. Senior co-captain Nate Fitt was dominant in all three of his bouts. He won two by way of pin before winning the third 19-3 by tech fall. Pandorf on the other hand was involved in three intense battles that were won closely by decision with the senior winning 6-1, 11-6, and 4-2.

Beyond the five aforementioned men, the Bears had two other victors vs Albright, 133 Owen Woolcott(State College, PA) and freshman 174 Mason Gourley(Clarion, PA) both of whom were competing in their home state of Pennsylvania. Gourley was also a major decision winner(9-0) in the Alvernia dual.

Versus Shippensburg, Gourley passed the torch to Thomas Rhodes(Last Forest Park, WA) and Rhodes kept the winning ways at 174 going with a 15-2 major decision victory. 141 Dom Moyer(Milford, PA), 157 Mike Edwards(Glenpool, OK), and 184 Chase Mayes(Nolensville, TN) each notched victories in the Shippensburg dual. Edwards and Mayes won by major decision, while Moyer pitched a shutout in a 5-0 decision.

In the day's finale, the Bears notched four wins by forfeit: 133 Jake Bennett(Waterford, CT), 174 Alex Hoffman(Lewisburg, PA), 197 Aidan Barry(Rocky Point, NY), and 285 Lincoln Bibla(Mountain Top, PA). 141 Robert Rerras(Herndon, VA) won by pin early on in his bout with 125 Kekoa Madayag(Rohnert Park, CA), 149 Daniel Williams(Wilmington, DE), and 157 Joey Miranda(South Harrison, NJ) winning by tech falls. In the final match of a day for the Bears, 184 Ryan Boyer(Little Silver, NJ) won by major decision at a score of 15-4.
