NEW LONDON, Conn. --
After stellar seasons for each of them, four Women's Lacrosse athletes have been named to the NEWMAC All-Conference Team:
Ella Campbell(Foxborough, MA),
Caitlyn Coates(Hanover, PA),
Abby McAllister(Pleasantville, NY), and
Rowan Walsh(Hampstead, MD).Â
Freshman defender
Ella Campbell was named the Rookie of the Year after an outstanding campaign. Campbell started every game as a rookie for the Bears. She is in the top-10 in draw controls per game with 3.69, which increased to 4.18 in conference play. Campbell plays in the circle for Coast Guard and is often relied upon to defend their opponent's best player(s). She can shut down opponents' strongest players and transitions the ball exceptionally well. Campbell has 17 caused turnovers and 18 ground balls this season. Along with being named Rookie of the Year, Campbell was also a 1st Team All-Conference player.Â
Joining Campbell on the 1st team is the rock of the Bears defense;
Rowan Walsh. Walsh had 34 ground balls and 30 caused turnovers in her junior season while starting every game.
On the All-Conference 2nd team were
Caitlyn Coates and
Abby McAllister. Coates, who is the Bears all-time leader in goals and points had 50 goals, 11 assists, 28 ground balls, and 21 draw controls in her senior season.Â
McAllister led the squad with 31 assists while also adding 36 goals, 19 ground balls, and 11 caused turnovers.
