MARLBOROUGH, Mass. - The NEWMAC has released its postseason honors for the 2025 men's tennis season. Sophomore ace
Ben Bonetto (Bend, Oreg.) was recognized as a top 1-on-1 player in the conference, being named to All-Conference Singles, while he joined junior captain
Brendan Love (Winchester, Va.) on the All-Conference Doubles list.
Bonetto went 5-2 in NEWMAC contests at court one for the Bears. "In singles, Ben played no. 4 for us last season and transformed himself into one of the top players in the conference this year," says Coast Guard men's tennis head coach
Jordon Smith. Bonetto's only two losses in conference play were against no. 1s from eventual conference champions Babson College and NEWMAC third seed Springfield College, with both being three-set falls.
Bonetto and Love also compiled a 5-2 record during a season in which they had some big shoes to fill. "Ben and Brendan had to replace our nationally-ranked doubles duo of Decoste and Norman," says Smith. "Ben was second doubles and Brendan was third for us last year, so the improvement is incredible to see." The duos two losses came against Babson and eventual league runners-up MIT.
"I'm very proud of the hard work both Ben and Brendan put into their games this season," Smith says. "I'm happy that both of them received All-Conference honors in recognition of their effort and improvement."
