#15 Bears sing last at King’s Point in 35-18 victory

KING'S POINT, N.Y. –

In the always important rivalry matchup vs Merchant Marine, the Coast Guard wrestling team came out victorious over the Mariners 35-18. This marks the 6th consecutive times the Bears have won the rivalry matchup. 

For Merchant Marine, the loss drops them to 9-6 and closes out their regular season. They will travel to Gettysburg, PA on Saturday February 15th for the Centennial Conference Championships. 

The Bears earned their 35 points, winning their first six matches of the evening. Leading off the evening, 125 Nikko Beato(San Diego, CA) won by forfeit. 149 Nathan Fitt(Branchville, NJ) later also won by forfeit. Four Coast Guard men won big by technical fall. 133 Chase Randall(Spokane, WA) won 17-2, 157 Jacob Woodburn(Greensboro, NC) won 22-6. 165 Landon Kearns(East Brunswick, NJ) won his bout 17-2, and 174 Caden Stout(St. Clairsville, OH) was victorious by a score of 18-1. The one match that ended by way of decision for the Bears was an 8-2 decision victory for 141 Dom Moyer(Milford, PA). 

The win for #15 Coast Guard improves them to 12-1 on the 2024-25 campaign. On Sunday February 23rd, they will travel to the NEWA Futures Tournament, hosted by Western New England University.
