CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - Coast Guard Sailing concluded their season at the ICSA Open Fleet Race National Championship hosted by Harvard and MIT. The four-day event started with two days of semifinals before advancing to the Finals.
At the Finals, CGA sailing finished in 5th place with 282 points behind 1st place Harvard University, Yale University, Dartmouth College, and Brown University. After 18 races, CGA won the tiebreaker over Boston College, while finishing ahead of Stanford and Navy. This is CGA Sailing's best finish at the Open National Championship since 2016.
CGA Sailing was led by a stellar A-Division performance by Colman Schofield '25 and Lauren O'Neill '24. Schofield and O'Neill finished 10 of the 18 races in the top-3 giving them a 19-point victory over 2nd place. The consistent sailing by the duo is remarkable given the incredibly shifty Charles River and the strength of competition, which included past college sailors of the year, and numerous All-Americans. With their victory, Schofield and O'Neill earned the Robert M. Allan Sr. Trophy, which has not been won by a CGA Sailor since 1962.
Sailing in B-Division for Coast Guard finishing in 10th place was Daniel Unangst '24, Nic Reeser '25, Daniel Neville '25, and Charles Pohl '26 with Laura Slovensky '25 in reserve.
