Coast Guard wins 5-4 over Connecticut College

NEW LONDON, Conn. -

The Bears came through in a nail-biter over Connecticut College in their final home match of the season. In doubles action, 24th ranked Myles Decoste and Charles Norman were the first point on the board for Coast Guard with an 8-1 win. Connecticut College evened the score at 1-1 with an 8-3 win at 3rddoubles. In the most competitive contest of the day, Sean Dreher and Ben Bonetto came back from a break down to win 8-7 at 2nd doubles.

In Singles Action, Charles Norman extended the lead to 3-1 after being up 5-0 in the first set. His opponent had to pull out with an injury. The Camels struck back with straight set victories at 3rd, 5th, and 6th singles. Freshman Ben Bonetto had a straight set victory of his own at 4th singles, tying the score at 4-4. Myles Decoste clinched the 5th point for the Bears with 6-3, 6-3 victory at 1st singles in the final deciding match of the day.

The Bears are next in action on Saturday at noon at Babson for the Newmac Semifinal.
