Box Score NORTHFIELD, VT - Men's Lacrosse was on the road taking on Norwich, securing their first win of the season after coming from behind in the second quarter for a 6-3 win.
The game started off with neither team able to find the back of the net. Each got off over 10 shots, but it was a goalie battleas Norwich had five saves and Coast Guard had four in the first 15.
Into the second, the Bears quickly found themselve down as the Cadets connected first, 43 seconds in. Less than three minutes later, CGA was battling a two point deficit. At 10:22, Coast Guard was able to cut the lead in half off a goal by
Ryan Hunter, assisted by
Eric Key.
It was a brand new game with eight minutes left in the first half as
Patrick Smith tied it up at two.
CGA got its first lead of the game from Smith's second goal.
Heading into the break, the Bears were leading the Cadets, 3-2.
The majority of the third quarter was more of a defensive battle. Neither team scored until Norwich got the tying goal with a minute and a half to go. With less than 50 seconds to go in the third, Hunter put the Bears back up by one.
The Bears added two more goals in the final 15, Smith recording his third and
Ian Feely getting one, to secure the 6-3 win.
Smith led all players in scoring with three goals, followed by Hunter with two.
Jake Chambers, Feely and Key all recorded one assist.
Matt Reheuser recorded 12 saves for the Bears.
Coast Guard will be back at home on March 6th, facing Maritime at 6 PM.
