Box Score NEW LONDON, Conn. - Women's Lacrosse opened conference play hosting Babson, falling to the Beavers with a final score of 13-10.

The game started out with a bang a Caitlyn Coates recorded a hat-trick within the first six and a half minutes of the game, giving the Bears an early 3-0 lead. With six minutes to go in the opening quarter, Abby McAllister added another to Coast Guard's lead.

Babson got its first goal with just over five minutes to go, but Addy Bass answered back, putting CGA up, 5-1. With 29 seconds left in the first, Bass got her second goal and gave the Bears a 6-1 lead. 15 seconds remaining, the Beavers added another and made the score 6-2 heading into the second quarter. 

Quarter two was a closer battle as Laine Weber added only one for the Bears and the Beavers scored four, bringing the game within one with under five minutes to go. With just over two minutes left, Babson scored to tie it up at seven heading into the break.

Coming out of the break, the Bears were trailing for the first time as the Beavers scored to make it 8-7. They added another towards the end of the third, going up 9-7.

CGA got one back with under three to go as Coates found the back of the net four her fourth of the game. Babson extended the lead back to two about a minute later, then added another with under a minute and a half to go. Into the final quarter, Babson was leading, 11-8.

Within the first 40 seconds of the last 15, Coates hit her fifth goal and brought the Bears back within two. Babson got one back with eight and a half to go in the game, making the score 12-9. 

Less than five minutes left to go, the Abby McAllister put one in for the Bears, cutting it back to two. Babson got it back, sealing the game at 13-10.

Coates led both teams in goals with five. Bass and McAllister had two a piece. McAllister also led CGA in assists with three. Maici Mintchwarner recorded 12 saves for the Bears. 

Coast Guard will next play at home against MIT on March 23rd at 12 PM.
