The Bears victorious night started off with a bang. The first three points of the game for CGA were points number 1000, 1001, and 1002 in the career of
Kira Wood. The senior guard from Seattle, Washington becomes the 11th member of the elite 1,000 point scoring club for women's basketball at the Coast Guard Academy. She joins fellow CGA hoops legends Melissa Martinelli('10), Natalie Moyer('08), Meghan Fornaro('16), Lis Bosma('05), Torie Sutherland('16), Tessa Mueller('03), Jessica Owsiany('99), Heather Wolf('99), Gillian Gerton('18), and Phyllis Blanton('87). Wood finished the game with a tie for the team lead in points scored(23) and a team high seven assists while playing all 40 minutes of the game.
Coast Guard and Clark went back and forth all first half, with five lead changes and a CGA lead of just two at the half. But coming out of the locker room, the Bears were on fire. They extended their lead to 15 near the end of the third and were able to hold off the Cougars in the fourth. Clark University(14-8, 4-4 NEWMAC) will next face Salve Regina Saturday at 1:00pm.

Kira Wood and junior forward
Kelly Hagerty, both with 23. This is Hagerty's second time this season scoring over 20 points. She also added a game high 15 rebounds.
Dorothy Stotts was the other Bear in double figures with 15 points and six assists.
With the victory, Coast Guard improves to 16-6 (5-3 NEWMAC). They will look to capitalize on the momentum of the win this Saturday when they travel to WPI for a 2:00pm game.
