The Coast Guard Academy women's basketball team closed out the regular season with a dominating victory vs Mount Holyoke. The Bears finish the season with a record of 19-6 (8-3 NEWMAC). 19 regular season wins is the most for the program since 2008 and 8 NEWMAC victories is the most since 2016-17.
The Bears were led in scoring by junior
Kelly Hagerty with 17. Senior guard
Kira Wood was the other Bear in double figures with 11 with
Julia Mann just behind with nine points. Sophomores
Mackenzie Hilden,
Taylor Lynch, and
Farrah Peterein all had strong showings off the bench with seven, six, and five points respectively.Â
Junior forward
Glory Blethen was dominant on the glass with 12 rebounds in just 24 minutes played and senior guard
Julia Barbalato led the team with four assists.
Coast Guard's incredible season has earned them the right to host a playoff game on Wednesday February 21st. The #4 seed Bears will play host to the #5 seed Babson Beavers at 7pm.
