Box Score NEW LONDON, Conn. - Coast Guard had their first home contest of the year against Connecticut College today, beating them 3 sets to none in Alumni Gym. This win improves the Bears record to 5-1 and the Camels fall to 0-2.
The Bears took set one 25-14. They had 12 kills and five aces in the first set alone, 15 in set two, and 17 in set three.
The second set was a bit closer but the Bears still took set number two for a score of 25-20. The beginning of the set was neck and neck but the Bears would start to pull away towards the end and clench set number two.
Set number three would be the closest yet and the score would become tied up eight different times. However, the Bears would ultimately take it 25-23 and would beat Conn. College in three sets.
Sophia Galdamez led her team with 11 kills and
Elizabeth Atkinson and
Allie Wildsmith each had nine apiece. Kalea France had 5 aces and 26 digs.
Maeve Duffin led her team in assists with 41.
The Bears will play a doubleheader on their home court Saturday, Sept. 9th as they play Dean College at 2 PM and Colby-Sawyer at 4 PM.
