Women's Lacrosse Falls to MIT in Semis

Box Score

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. -- Last night, Coast Guard Women's Lacrosse fell to the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in the New England Women and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) semi-finals, 16-6.

CGA's Gianna Casci set up Caitlyn coates for a Bears goal about 2:30 into the first quarter of play. However, MIT answered back a little over two minutes later and went on a 4-0 run. G. Cascio would score one for the Bears to finish out the quarter.

In the second quarter, the Engineers woud outscore the Bears six to two, for a 10-4 lead a the half.

In the third, Abby McAllister would be the only player from both teams to score. But, in the fourth, CGA's offense could not overcome the deficit, and they would ultimately fall 16-6 to the Engineers.

G. Cascio led the Bears with three goals and one assist on the day. Despite CGA's goalies Maici Mintchwarner and Devon McCue having a combined 11 saves in the game, three more than MIT's total saves, Bears would simply be out shot.

Bears scooped up 16 ground balls and were 15-23 in clears.

CGA Women's Lacrosse team will be back in action for the 2024 season.
