Box Score WORCESTER, Mass. –-Tonight, Coast Guard Men's Lacrosse (No. 5) upset (No. 4) Clark tonight 18-5, in the New England Women and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) quarterfinal.
In the first quarter of the game, Clark scored four straight. However, Coast Guard's Caleb Holdridge answered back with a Bear's goal with just 15 seconds left in the first.
CGA dominated the second quarter, scoring 10 unanswered goals to take the 11-4 lead at the half.
Bears outscored the Cougars three to one in the third, to lead 14-5 at the start of the final quarter.
Coast Guard would continue to control the game, scoring four in the last quarter and not allowing Clark to score at all.
The Cougars could only get one past goalkeeper Dan Lucas the entire second half. Lucas had 19 saves on the day for the Bears.
Holdridge led both teams scoring four goals and adding four assists. Taylor Gustafson and Ian Feely also had four goals apiece. Ryan Hunter added three goals along with one assist.
Bears were 29-32 in clears and scooped up 31 ground balls.
CGA Men's Lacrosse will head to the NEWMAC Semifinals and face (No. 1) seed Babson this Thursday, May 4th, at 7 PM.
