Box Score NEW LONDON, Conn. – Today, Coast Guard Women's Lacrosse continued New England Women and Men's Conference (NEWMAC) play against Smith, beating them 15-5 on Senior Day.
Senior, Gianna Cascio scored first for the Bears at 7:20 in the first quarter. Smith would add two goals in the first, but CGA would lead 4-2, to start the second quarter.
In the second quarter, the Bears would only allow the Pioneers to score one goal in the third quarter. CGA would go into halftime with a 7-3 lead.
The third quarter was more of Coast Guard dominating. The Bears would not allow the Pioneers to score once in the third. Bears put up seven more goals before starting the final quarter.
CGA would ultimately take the game for a final score of 15-5.
Gigi Cascio led the Bears with six goals and one assist. Addy Bass, Shannon Schmidt, Laine Weber, and Abby McAllister each had two goals apiece.
Devon McCue had five out of eight saves and Maici Mintchwarner had two out of four saves.
CGA went 15 for 15 in clears, scooped up 38 ground balls, and secured 18 draw controls. Mia Becker secured nine of CGA's 18 draw controls.
Women's Lacrosse is back on their home field, next Wednesday April 19th, at 7 PM against Mount Holyoke.
