Bears Down Grove City, Improve to 3-0

Box Score

SPARKS, MD. -- Coast Guard Men's Lacrosse travelled to the USA Lacrosse Hall of Fame where they beat non-conference foe Grove City, 14-11.

Despite the Wolverines getting the first score of the game, Coast Guard would ultimately find their groove and dominate the entire first half. The Bears would score five unanswered goals in a row, for a score of 5-1 after the first 15 minutes.

A Grove City goal by Griffin Agawa assisted by Kobi Bui in the first minute of the second quarter would make for a 5-2 score. However, the Bears would ultimately take the momentum of the first half and score six more goals in a row. They would let Grove City score just once more before going into halftime, for a hefty lead of 11-3 for CGA.

Although, the Wolverines did not go down without a fight and would score six unanswered goals in the third quarter. To start the fourth, Coast Guard would only be up 11-9.

In the fourth, both teams would battle until the very last second. Coast Guard would ultimately pick up a much deserved win for a score of 14-11.

Taylor Gustafson led all scorers and would finish with seven of his teams' 14 goals. Ian Feely and Gaige Kruger followed with two apiece. Gunnar Brodfuehrer, Matt Lubin, and Ryan Hunter each had one goal.

Coast Guard recorded 24 ground balls and 21 clears.

Defensively, goalie Dan Lucas recorded 19 saves for his team.

After Spring Break, Men's Lacrosse will be back at it Wednesday, March 15th, at 7 PM as they face Maritime College.
